After fighting all weekend for the last 3 days, I have now entered the low life. So the springs are Eibachs and struts are KYB exel-g/gr2. I took the car for the alignment yesterday and everything is set.

I was going to ask why but I decided it’s actually pretty cool. Duratech?

I actually like it, looks really nice. How is the ride?
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:50 |

Ride is stiffer but it has totally changed the way car handles.

Indeed

I’ve got a long way to go for that....

So, I take it the car actually handles now. Jokes aside, that’s always good news. Hopefully I can join in the low (but not slammed) life soon.

Excellent. Suspension would not be justified on a 4cyl or a Vulcan
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:53 |

It looks good.

Looks good. I rocked a 2001 Duratec Taurus for 200k miles. Sold it in perfect shape. Very reliable ride. That engine is held back by the slushbox.
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:54 |

there was no 4 cylinder engine for these cars lol
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:54 |

thanks!
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:58 |

Did the Tarus have one?
![]() 03/22/2016 at 14:58 |

I’ve got almost 200k miles on it now! and you are totally right about the trans holding the engine back.

Go low 3.0
![]() 03/22/2016 at 15:00 |

Aka Mercury Dis-sabled. This looks much more low-key.

Taurus only from 86-91, that was the HSC 2.5 4 cylinder. After that it was a V6 only car. Then there was the 96-99 V8 SHO, then back to V6 only till 2013? came out with the 2.0T ecoboost 4 banger.

So happy I did!

My brother-in-law lowered his Sable a few years back, but his motivations may have been different. His had the Duratec engine and it ran like a scalded dawg.

Honestly looks WAY better than I could have ever imagined. Yamaha V8 time? Yes? Yes.
![]() 03/22/2016 at 15:15 |

My Duratec is just fine for me lol. Yamaha power comes at a very high cost.

Mach 1 chin spoiler?
I’m convinced they fit on everything!
Looks good!
![]() 03/22/2016 at 15:34 |

Indeed! I love the mach 1 lip, its nice and easy part to install on the car and makes a big difference.

Tasteful. Good choices!

Duratec’s are pretty great anyhow.

YEAAAAAAH MERCURY!!!!!
I thought about it as I’m doing all new suspension on Friday, then I remembered I need stock springs to run in stock RallyX

That’s why I looked at the Mazda 6 and Jaguar S-Type/Lincoln LS with the 5 speed or 6 speed as my next car, because they have the Duratec. I ended up buying an ‘05 GTO, which I do not regret at all. lol
![]() 03/22/2016 at 16:38 |

What I would love to do is put a 5 speed manual in this car.
![]() 03/22/2016 at 16:39 |

Wut. It’s not justified on a Sable anyways, what difference does the engine make?
![]() 03/22/2016 at 16:39 |
|
sad...
![]() 03/22/2016 at 16:40 |
|
Nah it’s cool. I’m sure it’ll ride pretty awesome with new control arms(6) w/ ball joints, shocks/struts, tie rod ends, and rear shocks.
![]() 03/22/2016 at 16:42 |
|
Duratec is actually a pretty good engine. They’re pretty fast from what I understand.

Sable rides really nicely even now that’s lowered
